BUENOS AIRES – In just two days, on Saturday, April 29, 2023, more than 120 of the world’s fastest distance runners in the 5k, 10k and half marathon will be competing in search of making history in this year’s edition of the adidas ADZERO: Road to Records event.

With the races taking place on campus at Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, the course is designed to be faster than ever. With the final lineup of official athletes, this year’s ADIZERO: ROAD TO RECORDS will be another day of must-see racing.

Yomif Kejelcha and Pirano Palio compete in the men’s 5K. In March, Kejelcha ran the 5K in 12:50 in Lille, missing the world record by a bewildering second. In ADIZERO: ROAD TO RECORDS, he’ll be looking for that extra second and defending his title since last year, when he ran the fastest 5K debut ever.

The women’s 10km will be a match between 2022 world bronze medalist Margaret Chelimo and rising star Agnes Ngetic. Chelimo 10K PB is still the fifth fastest of all time – on Saturday he will try to raise the rating.

Gladys Longari will be aiming for victory in the women’s half marathon, after making her debut at the event last month, where she set a new world record in Milan. Rising star Abdissa Tola will set her sights on a gold medal in the men’s half marathon.

Senbere Teferi will face Brenda Chebet in the women’s 5km event. Snapper is the current 5k world record holder, was named to Road to Records in 2021, and defended her title last year. A talented young woman, Chebet ran her first 5km last month, of the 800m/1500m, clocking in at 14:57, a great start in the event, with huge potential.

Kibiwott Kandie and Sabastian Sawe will once again go head to head in the men’s 10K, after placing first and second in last year’s event. Candy, the 2022 Commonwealth bronze medalist in the 10,000m, will seek to defend her 10K ADIZERO: ROAD TO RECORDS title.

The action will be available to watch live on the adidas Running YouTube channel. The race schedule for today can be found below**.

All competing athletes will wear shoes from the record-breaking ADIZERO series. Verified by records, the ADIZERO franchise has been developed over the past 19 years in conjunction with elite athletes and the running community, and provides the perfect silhouette for every runner’s individual needs, whether they want to race to win or train for competition.

After the Elite Races are over, a fun 5K race will be organized, open to adidas employees and partners, adidas runners and members of the public. More than 1,500 people are expected to participate in the fun 5K event.
