La Jornada – They installed a transition schedule for health services in Colima

Colima, Col. The federal government has installed the federal health services transition schedule, under the IMSS model of care, in which it will invest 533 million pesos in hiring staff, purchasing equipment, and building infrastructure.

In the presence of Health Minister Jorge Alcocer Varela. Governor, Indira Vizcaino and other federal and state authorities, Director of IMSS, Zoe Alejandro Robledo, announced the Federal Centralization Model for Health Services already being implemented in Tlaxcala and Nayarit.

He explained that the idea is to embody President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s commitment to provide universal health coverage to all Mexicans and thus fulfill the human right to medical care.

He argued that the model consisted of several steps in which the idea was presented to Governor Indira Vizcaino to make a diagnosis of the state’s health system, integrating teams of state and federal governments and then analyzing the results.

An agreement has already been signed, in general, to share information about the diagnoses made last January and a transition schedule has been installed and will conclude with the signing of the detailed agreements and the start of the model.

Robledo Oporto determined that the first result in the diagnosis of 145 health clinics and eight hospitals in the state is that 279 doctors, 39 medical assistants and about 300 nurses are needed.

In addition, there is a need for special neonatal care units, trauma rooms, outpatient clinics, lab combs, installation of four medical residences, red trauma room carts, surgery tables, radiology units, and clinical beds.

He explained that with this, the maximum operating potential will be reached with an investment of 533 million pesos to cover employees, the acquisition of 3,600 pieces of equipment for first-level clinics and 900 pieces of equipment for second-level clinics, in addition to 19 infrastructure works.

He pointed out that the current medical staff will be given certainty and security because there are medical cadres with temporary contracts for a period of one month for a period of 13 years, while individuals who already have a rule that all their working conditions will be respected and no one will be fired, “And for those who do not believe in this, I challenge you to tell me who was expelled in Tlaxcala and Nayarit”, where the IMSS-Wellness model is also being implemented.

The Director General of IMSS announced that Colima, Nayarit and Tlaxcala are the first states that have already approved the transfer program and therefore have minimal medical care in these states.
