The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) will open, on Wednesday, the eighth international symposium with the aim of discussing the challenges posed by combating global warming for the oil industry.
The two-day event will be attended by ministers from OPEC member countries and other oil producing and consuming countries, as well as representatives from international organizations, oil and energy companies, academics and other industry experts.

Symposium participants will address issues and challenges facing the oil industry, including energy transition, energy poverty alleviation, energy security, climate change policies, investment, technology and innovation.
The 8th International Symposium will develop the theme “Towards a Sustainable and Inclusive Energy Transition” through high-level banquets, ministerial sessions and exhibitions.
Among the participants in the OPEC symposium is Simon Steel, head of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change. Kadri Simon, European Commissioner for Energy; and Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), among others.
According to the agenda of the event, it will be opened by the Secretary-General of OPEC, Kuwaiti Haitham Al-Ghais, and the current president of the organization, Antonio Oboro Ondo.
It is expected that Saudi Oil Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman will deliver a speech at the opening session of the international symposium.
The OPEC International Seminars were established in 2001 and provide a platform for high-level discussions and collaboration on key issues in the oil and energy industry.
