Volkswagen Trucks & Buses has announced the first delivery of its 100% electric AMBEV truck, a major step in the brand’s electrification strategy. “The Volkswagen e-Delivery vehicle arrives to allow the use of electric propulsion in urban distribution and create a reference in sustainability for the global logistics market,” the brand said in a statement. It is a Volkswagen e-Delivery 14 ton 6×2, equipped with an electric motor that generates a power of 300 kilowatts with a maximum torque of 2,150 Newton meters from zero. Equipped with air suspension as standard, it has a gross curb weight of 14,300kg and a maximum payload capacity, added to the body, of 9,055kg. With a choice of six or three battery packs, the electronic delivery architecture translates into a vehicle range of up to 250 kilometres, depending on vehicle configuration and application. The three-stage regenerative braking system can use up to 40% of the energy consumed to slow down. The e-delivery system was designed by a team dedicated to e-mobility, and was produced at the Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus de Resende plant (in Rio de Janeiro), which recently began mass assembly of these electric models, becoming the first plant in Brazil with such a large-scale process.
