Ramallah, June 23 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today thanked Cuba for its decision to join the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel before the International Court of Justice for the crimes it committed in Gaza nine months ago.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed Havana’s announcement to intervene in the case related to the application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in Gaza.
The Foundation stated in a statement, “This decision expresses Cuba’s firm commitment to justice and the rule of international law, and confirms the deep solidarity and historical friendship between the two countries.”
He also called on all states parties to the Convention to unite and announce their active participation in the proceedings before the Court.
He stressed that it is necessary to end the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people and to combat Israel’s impunity, responsibilities we must shoulder together for the benefit of humanity.
Two days ago, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla announced the position of the Caribbean island.
The minister published an official statement on the social networking site X, in which his government explained the decision to intervene in the procedure.
The text warns that Cuba will participate “consistent with a firm and sustained commitment to support and contribute in every possible way to legitimate international efforts to put an end to the genocide committed against the Palestinian people.”
He emphasizes that the main goal of the lawsuit is to stop the atrocities against the Palestinian people as a result of the disproportionate and indiscriminate use of force by Israel.
Genocide, apartheid, forced displacement and collective punishment have no place in today’s world, and cannot be tolerated by society.
