A bug in Spotify reveals private “playlists” for some users

A bug in Spotify publicly exposed some playlists or “playlists” to users who had initially configured them as private, thus violating the privacy of their subscribers.

Users can choose which “playlists” are shown on their profile and hide others they don’t want to share. If you do so, recipients can reproduce it, follow it, and share it with other people, as shown on their website.

Despite this action, the streaming music platform was beginning to disclose some “playlists” that were configured as private without the consent of the owning users, Bleeping Computer reported.

Several users deplored that their playlists were made available to other users “silently,” which is “an absolutely unacceptable invasion of privacy,” according to some.

This situation follows another very similar case recorded last March, when a user proposed a theory in which he suggested that private lists were not really private, because despite being hidden, they could still be shared through a link.

Spotify has not yet reported this issue and the number of music platform users affected by this vulnerability has not yet been notified.
