Alliance expansion between Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines approved

If officials approve the extension, the relationship between the companies will last until 2029

New Zealand's Minister of State for Transport, Matt Doocy, has approved the extension of the alliance between Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines (SIA) for another five years, until March 2029.

According to the companies, this will allow airlines to continue to offer their customers greater value, greater choice and access to an extensive global network in the coming years.

For his part, Air New Zealand's Director of Alliances and Transformation, Mike Williams, said partnerships play an important role in connecting New Zealand to the world.

“Since the alliance began in early 2015, the two flag carriers have together transported more than 4.6 million passengers to New Zealand, Singapore and beyond,” Williams said.

During the 10-year partnership, Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines have increased seat capacity between New Zealand and Singapore by almost 50%. This includes the addition of up to three daily services between Auckland and Singapore and one daily service between Christchurch and Singapore.

“This partnership gives New Zealanders global access beyond Singapore's gateway to destinations in Europe, India and Southeast Asia through Singapore Airlines' vast network,” he added.

Following this extension, subject to regulatory approval, the joint venture partners will operate a total of four daily seasonal services between Auckland and Singapore from October 27, 2024 to March 29, 2025. This will give customers more connectivity and more choice. Peak holiday season.

Tai Haiu, Singapore Airlines' senior vice president of marketing planning, said Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines have been strong partners for almost a decade.
