MADRID, EFEverde.- BBVA reached an annual record in sustainable business with $70,000 million in 2023, representing a growth of 39 percent, the financial entity reported.
According to BBVA President Carlos Torres Vila, “A record number growing faster than we thought. It's double what we had two years ago, more than five times what we had five years ago, and is expected to continue to increase. “Sustainability has proven to be a great opportunity for growth.”
From 2018 to 2023, the Bank mobilized €206 billion in sustainable business, exceeding the planned path to reach the €300 billion target set for 2025.
Of the total sustainable business mobilized in 2023, 78% are related to climate change, and the rest 22% It has dedicated itself to promoting inclusive growth, Which include, among others, financing social mortgages, social infrastructures such as hospitals, schools or vulnerable entrepreneurs, especially in South American countries.
