Buckingham Palace says Queen Elizabeth's doctors are concerned about her health

Buckingham Palace says Queen Elizabeth’s doctors are concerned about her health

(CNN) — Buckingham Palace said on Thursday that Queen Elizabeth II’s doctors were concerned about her health and recommended medical supervision.

“Following further assessment this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned about Her Majesty’s health and have recommended that she remain under medical supervision,” a statement read.

Buckingham Palace added that “the Queen remains at rest and at Balmoral Castle” in Scotland.

The royal family begins traveling to Balmoral

Prince Charles and Camilla traveled to Balmoral, Clarence House reported Thursday. Carlos is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth and heir to the throne.

The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, is also moving into the castle in Scotland, according to Kessington Palace.

A royal source told CNN on Thursday that members of the Queen’s immediate family had already been told about her health concerns. He denied the rumors about the fall of the king.

For several months, the health of Elizabeth II, 96, raised concerns. The Queen missed several occasions during the celebration of her platinum jubilee, over the 70 years of her reign, last June. At the time, Buckingham Palace said the Queen felt “some discomfort” during the first day of festivities and would not attend the main event on the second day.

“The Queen thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas parade and aerial parade, but was a little upset,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement at the time.

In previous years, the King rarely called off engagements at the last minute. But his advanced age made it difficult for him to work with a busy schedule, full of obligations and official appointments, which defined most of his reign.

As she got older, the Queen has reduced the number of her posts to focus on core constitutional duties as head of the Church of England and head of state, such as opening parliaments and hearings with the prime minister and new ambassadors to the United Kingdom. He started using the cane in public last year.

In 2021, palace officials moved quickly to ease concerns about the Queen’s health when she canceled a trip to Northern Ireland. Fears subsided immediately when a source close to the palace told CNN he was in “good spirits”, but it was later revealed that he had spent the night in hospital conducting what a palace spokesman described as “initial investigations”.
