Cadillac could enter the New Zealand market with its electric vehicles

Speculation is mounting that General Motors’ luxury brand Cadillac may consider entering the New Zealand market with its range of electric vehicles. Reports suggest that Cadillac plans to produce right-hand drive models of its electric vehicles based on the Altium platform that will be sold in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.

While General Motors Specialty Vehicles, which currently supplies petrol-powered Chevrolets in New Zealand, would not confirm or deny the rumours, a spokesperson noted that GM is involved in select right-hand drive markets and that the Ultium platform offers flexibility in vehicle configurations. Cadillac’s lineup of electric vehicles includes the recently launched Lyriq and Escalade IQ, as well as the upcoming Optiq.
