The Chile U-17 Women’s Team has made a great start to the World Cup. They beat New Zealand 3-1 in their first group match this morning (Chile time). La Roja are in Group D with Germany and Nigeria.
GOA At the Pandit Jawaharlal Mehru Stadium, the Alex Castro-led players put on an impressive performance from the first minute.
The pre-World Cup work and preparation reaped its reward in the 11th minute, a case in point Amber Figueroa broke the deadlock with a strong shot (1-0), After the great overflow of Constanza Oliver.
The second goal came moments later, in the 21st minute, from a penalty kick after New Zealand goalkeeper Oliver was brought down in the area. Dolly Rovner extended the lead from twelve steps (2-0).

Chile’s third was the work of Anas Sifuentes, who left the rival goalkeeper with no choice with a neat shot.
With the first three points in the pocket, Chile now prepare to face Germany on Friday, October 14. The Germans reached their fourth World Cup as European champions.
