Tashkent, July 29 (Xinhua) Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Friday.

During the meeting, Wang said that today’s world is entering a new phase of turmoil and transformation, with profound changes not seen in a century resonating with the most serious epidemic in a hundred years, and burning issues continuing to emerge both internationally and regionally.

He said Chinese President Xi Jinping took the pulse of historical development and echoed the voices of people around the world.

Thus, Wang continued, the Chinese president proposed the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, which contribute to Chinese wisdom and public interests to solve the problems of this era.

Wang noted that Xi’s proposals have received positive responses from the international community, including the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Faced with the arduous task of development and stability, it is necessary to uphold the Shanghai spirit, work and help each other to build a close SCO community, said the top Chinese diplomat, who also made a five-point proposal. with a common future.

Wang stressed that China will take the convening of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization prime ministers’ meeting in November this year as an opportunity to promote the coordinated and efficient development of the regional economy.

He added that China has always considered the SCO a priority in its diplomacy and will use its development to help countries in the region and inject more positive energy into the security of all countries and people’s well-being.

The foreign ministers who participated in the meeting expressed their full support for the important role played by the SCO in enhancing strategic mutual trust among member states, promoting regional development and prosperity, and deepening people-to-people relations.

In addition, they considered that solidarity and coordination should be further strengthened, and multilateralism should be activated to adapt to the rapidly changing international situation.

They agreed to expand mutually beneficial cooperation, improve regional connectivity, and believed that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization would play a greater role in promoting the stability of international production and supply chains.

They also pledged to make good use of the rich cultural resources of countries in the region and to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation among peoples. They discussed the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Development Bank, and agreed to proceed with the process of expanding the organization’s membership in an orderly manner.

During his stay in Uzbekistan, Wang also met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Foreign Minister in charge of the Afghan Interim Government Amir Khan Mottaki, and Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Relations, Mukhtar Taluberdi.

The Chinese Foreign Minister also participated in the general meeting of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
