Confirmed: Jarry, the defending champion, will play in Santiago ATP

Defending Champion confirmed. Nicolas Jarry, ranked No. 19 in the ATP rankings and the leader in Latin America, confirmed that he will return to ATP practice in Santiago, Chile, his country, in 2024, the tournament in which he was crowned champion this season.

Jarry (28 years old), who enjoys the highest position of his career in the world rankings, added two of his three singles titles at the ATP level in 2023, the first in his country’s capital. Thus, for the first time in his career, he won two Grand Slams in the same season, both on clay.

The Chilean No. 1 has just announced that he is no longer working with coach Juan Ozon. Therefore, he is seeking to sign a new coach for next season.

“I am very happy and excited to tell you that I will be participating in the Chile Open next year again. So I hope to see you all and cheer a lot, like this year. Let’s go!”, was the message from his country’s tennis leader.

After his best year as a professional, Jarry aims to achieve even more in 2024. A special challenge is always the South American tour, especially in Santiago, in front of his home fans.

At that ATP Tour, Jarry had fallen in qualifying in 2013 and lost in his main draw debut in 2021 and 2022. In 2023, he was able to win the title after four out of five victories in three sets, defeating Argentine Thomas Echeverri in the final. The previous local champion there was Cristian Jarin in 2021.
