costa-rica-subio-a-tres-dosis-esquema-completo-contra-covid-19

Costa Rica has increased its full scheme three doses against Covid-19

So far, CNVE has deemed the shield against illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, two doses of products applied in this country—even combined—from Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca and Moderna.

However, in a new assessment, it is now estimated that for those over 12 years of age, there are three segments, two of the primary schema and one of the boost four months after the second injection.

In this regard, Leandra Abarca and Diana Paniagua, from the Epidemiological Surveillance Organization of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), explained that based on the Integrated Vaccine System (SIVA) as of March 14, 420 million 888 seniors from 12 years old with more than four months of application, the second dose will have a suspended enhancement.

By age groups, SIVA statistics show that the third dose has not yet been applied to 131,436 adolescents from 12 to 17 years old, from 18 to 57 years old, 112 thousand 150 and from 58 years old and over 177 thousand 302.

Abarca stressed that vaccines have proven to be safe and effective in reducing complications from Covid-19, such as prolonged hospitalization and even death.

For his part, Baniagua urged residents who are not yet vaccinated or who are waiting for the second or third dose to approach the vaccination points.

As part of the second phase of Reinforce’s strategy: Everything Against Covid-19, Paniagua said that to make it easier, CCSS vaccination teams are visiting businesses and in some communities conducting house-to-house surveys.

He pointed out that vaccination is open in all health fields, and announced that it is possible to request an appointment in 37 of them through the institution’s website, which arranged 25,000 appointments for this week, leaving only 7,041 appointments for today, tomorrow and Saturday.

SIVA’s data reflects that as of December 24, 2020, when the campaign began, as of Monday, the CCSS vaccination teams had injected nine million 790 thousand 312 doses of the vaccine against Covid-19.

Of this total, four million 273 thousand 569 correspond to the first parts, three million 892 thousand 636 to the second and one million 624 thousand 107 to the third, applied as reinforcement for those over 12 years of age with more than four months of receipt of the second part.

According to SIVA statistics, Costa Rica reaches 89 percent of first-dose application in the population over the age of five, 81.8 in the second and 33.8 in the third.
