Costa Rica reports increase in cases and hospitalizations due to Covid-19 – Prensa Latina

This represents an increase of 15.6 percent between weeks 31 and 32, as Herrera called on residents to apply all prevention measures put in place to avoid infection.

Similarly, he continued, at week 31, they recorded 543 hospitalizations and 629 at week 32, which is a 15.8 percent increase in this criterion.

As for the deceased, the Director General of Health indicated that they reported 94 cases in the 31st week, while their number reached 89 in the 32nd week, a decrease of 5.3 percent between one week and another.

Herrera explained that 49.4% of deaths in the 32nd epidemic week were recorded in the age group of 65 years and over. 25.8 percent from 18 to 49 years old; 23.6 percent from 50 to 64 years old; and 1.1 percent in children 0 to 17 years old.

Due to the increase in Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations in Costa Rica, the Emergency Operations Center and the National Emergency Committee decided to maintain the orange alert for the epidemic across the country for another week.
