Furcal pointed to delegations from Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and the host country “You can’t overcome poverty if you don’t have the solidarity of the cooperatives.”

Cuba participates in the agreement with several cooperatives and small and medium enterprises (Mipymes), which earlier this week held a working round with Dominican entities with a social focus.

The event was attended by the Heroes of the Republic of Cuba, Ramon Labañino, Vice President of the National Association of Economists and Accountants, and Antonio Guerrero, in charge of the San Cristobal Travel Agency, of the Office of the City Historian of La Havana.

The president of Relcoop, Claudio Alberto Rivera, highlighted the results in the academic ranking, particularly in the training of the members of the cooperative, thanks to the network’s cooperation and integration agreements with the University of Santander in Mexico.

Just on this first day, the third graduation of the International Diploma course in Cooperatives, Management and Education, taught by this postgraduate center, took place.

Rivera noted that progress is also being made in strengthening work with organizations in the social solidarity economy sector, in particular with cooperatives.

For his part, Ramon Labanino highlighted the importance of the agreement in establishing relations for the benefit of peoples and invited the participants to the international meeting of economists on the problems of globalization and development, which will be held in Havana from September 14 to 17. next November.

The meeting in Punta Cana is looking at specialized visits, conferences, panel discussions and workshops that will allow the exchange of experiences and knowledge, as well as defining strategies to strengthen the solidarity sector in the economy and transforming cooperatives into a real way for the economic and social development of countries.
