Cuba participates in the Ninth World Congress of Young Parliamentarians • Workers

A delegation of young representatives from the National Council of People’s Power has been participating since September 15 in Ninth World Conference of Young ParliamentariansIts headquarters are in Hanoi, the capital of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Representatives of the Greater Antilles will participate in this event – which is held by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIP) and the National Assembly of the sister Asian country, until the 17th, under the main slogan “The Role of Youth in the World”. Accelerating the Sustainable Development Goals through digital transformation and innovations”-; Urícel Richards Martinez, Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Havana School of Law; Ian Pedro Carbonell Carril, Director of Macroeconomic Policy at the Central Bank of Cuba; and José Carlos Cruz Sandoval, General Director of the National Directorate of the Computer and Electronics Youth Club.

In the Session number 1 of the international event, dedicated to Digital transformationThe conference will be attended by José Carlos Cruz Sandoval, elected representative of the municipality of Paragua; Improving institutions and policies to promote digital transformation and improve opportunities for sustainable economic development will be discussed. In return, experiences will be exchanged on legislation and oversight of national parliaments and the role of young parliamentarians in promoting digital transformation in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and on the progress made in parliamentary digital transformation for sustainable development.

Ian Pedro Carbonell Carril, elected representative of the municipality of Minas de Matahambre, will intervene in the matter. Session No. 2 of the conference Innovation and startups, where improving institutions and policies in promoting innovation and start-ups (including those related to youth) will be addressed as a driver for inclusive and sustainable development, including food technology. In addition, there will be exchanges on legislation and oversight of national parliaments, the role of young parliamentarians in promoting innovation and startups, and the development of artificial intelligence to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, among other topics.

For her part, the elected representative of the municipality of La Liza, Urícel Richards Martinez, will participate in the session. Session No. 3 focused on Promoting respect for cultural diversity in support of sustainable developmentWith the aim of conducting a basic study of the role of parliaments and young parliamentarians in promoting respect for cultural diversity during a period of technological transformation and globalization.

Also present in the Indochina country, as part of an official visit, are Ana Maria Marie Machado, Vice President of the Cuban Legislative Council; Rolando Miguel González Patricio and Ramon Osmani Aguilar Betancourt, Chairman of the International Relations and Agri-Food Committees of the National Assembly, respectively; As well as Yunel Flores Aguiar, head of the International Relations Directorate of the National Police Agency.

The Caribbean delegation was received on September 14 by the highest authorities of the party and the government of Vietnam’s Ninh Binh Province.
