Cuba urges the Security Council to end collective punishment in Gaza

It is time to stop the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people; The Vice Chancellor added during the second day of the open discussion held by the Commission on the crisis in the Middle East: “We repeat our categorical demand for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the war rhetoric.”

The Permanent Representative of the Caribbean State to the United Nations considered it necessary to urgently mobilize humanitarian aid to the sector, coordinated by the United Nations, to address the catastrophic situation in the sector.

Beníalver called on the United States government to stop the paralysis suffered by the Security Council, which must fulfill its mandate of putting an end to the collective punishment carried out by Israel against the Palestinian population, as well as the escalation of violence and massacres in Gaza.

The diplomat stressed that this international entity cannot remain inactive in the face of Tel Aviv's illegal annexation policy, its colonial practices, and its apartheid regime, which has been continuing for more than seven decades in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Cuban representative supported the call for Palestine to be accepted as a permanent member of the United Nations, as well as the initiative to hold an urgent peace conference under the auspices of the United Nations, focused on preserving the inalienable rights of this people.

He reiterated the Caribbean country's proposal to urgently send an international protection mission to Gaza, with a mandate from the General Assembly, to ensure the safety and protection of the civilian population and facilitate the delivery of emergency humanitarian aid.

The Deputy Commander called on Israel to withdraw completely and unconditionally from the Syrian Golan and all occupied Arab territories, stop the aggression against Syria, and condemned the military attacks launched by the United States and its allies against Yemen, in violation of international law.

Such actions encourage the expansion of war and genocide in the Gaza Strip. He stressed that violence is not the solution to conflicts in the Middle East.

In addition, he condemned the terrorist attack that occurred earlier this month in the Iranian city of Kerman during a ceremony commemorating the fourth anniversary of the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani.
