Dua Lipa becomes Honorary Ambassador of Kosovo

Dua Lipa becomes Honorary Ambassador of Kosovo

A week after her performance at Lollapalooza, Dua Lipa once again topped this week at the Sunny Hill Festival in Kosovo, where the singer was also named Honorary Ambassador for the European Nation.

Daughter of Kosovar Albanian parents, Lipa received the honor Friday at a gala hosted by President Vuza Osmani, who paid tribute to the singer’s humanitarian work both in Kosovo and around the world.

“In addition to being a world-class and unique musician, you are also a role model for many girls and women around the world as an honest and conscientious activist,” Othmani wrote. “But above all, what you have done for the people of Kosovo, by raising awareness of the Republic of Kosovo, is incomparable and invaluable.”

“It is an honor and a privilege to be able to represent my country around the world and to be able to continue my work and efforts globally to see us make our mark and make a difference,” Lipa added on Instagram of her new role.

One of her first orders as an honorary ambassador: lobbying for visa liberalization for Kosovar citizens, a cause she championed through the Sunny Hill Festival she co-founded with her father in 2018.

“Today we unite global voices to ask our European friends to help grant visa liberalization to the citizens of Kosovo,” Lipa wrote. “While the European Union draws boundaries around our freedom, we maintain our aspirations for liberation.”
