Eight thousand cyber attacks per month are recorded in Angola

According to the head of the APD’s Inspection and Analysis Department, José Quimbo, the country receives two thousand cyberattacks every week, something that is closely related to the fact that some public or private institutions still do not put cybersecurity as a priority.

He pointed out that investing in it is considered an expense for some companies, without taking into account the importance of the fact in light of the role that technology currently plays, that even the institutions’ assets are located in the cloud.

Digital transformation requires awareness of information security, which begins with training people and professionals in the region, he said during the third session of the Angolan CyberSecur Summit, which is being held in Luanda until Thursday.

He considered that security in the country in this regard is still below the expectations of the Public Security Directorate, and classified it as a worrying level of vulnerability to attacks.

Quimbo means that the banking sector is the one that leads the largest number of cyber attacks, as four private banks were attacked with remarkable success, while the most common complaints among people relate to the cloning of accounts on a large scale.
