Fall Guys may soon be coming to PlayStation 5 locally

The multiplayer game known as Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is still a huge hit on Devolver Digital and Mediatonic. It was a surprise in 2020 thanks to its gameplay, which attracted many fans and players with recommendations from friends and Twitch screens. The game has also seen many collaborations in the form of costumes, with properties such as Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sonic the Hedgehog, and many more.

Fall Guys has been an amazing success on PS4, thanks in part to being a free PS Plus game at launch. Fall Guys set a new world record as the most downloaded title on PS Plus while it was available. It now looks like the game will continue to be a hit on another PlayStation platform, as some recent updates suggest Fall Guys is coming to Sony’s next-gen console, the PlayStation 5.

The discovery was made through the Twitter account @ PlayStationSize, where they keep a record of what games arrive on PlayStation consoles, as well as how much space they will occupy. The account discovered that the new Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout beta has been added to the PS5 database, with a thumbnail of the game named after the demo.

Like other PS4 games, Fall Guys can be played on PS5 via backwards compatibility, which takes advantage of the console’s Game Boost feature. However, this discovery indicates that it will be native to PS5, so this game will be able to take advantage of the additional improvements that the console offers. The account also states that the Beta release will not be open to the public, so the original PS5 release may arrive sooner rather than later.

The game is currently on PS4 and PC, along with the Nintendo Switch and Xbox versions of Fall Guys due out next year. The possibility that Fall Guys will now have a version for PS5 is probably one of the reasons why other versions of the game were delayed until 2022, as developers were implementing cross functionality for all versions of the game. Crossplay itself has been one of the features that feature developers have wanted to include since Fall Guys launched, so fans will likely be able to play against anyone regardless of their console at some point.
