Gabriela Barbas noted that the Ministry of Health is open to dialogue

The dispute between health workers and the county health ministry continues and there is expected to be a meeting on Monday 5 December to reach an agreement.

Health teams are calling for salary increases and better contract terms, among other things, and the province decided on Thursday to make an increase by decree. In addition, they introduced the workers of the sector as an important human resource.

But the gatherings in the hospitals rejected this measure and decided to continue the fighting measures.

Talking to cba24nThe Minister of Health, Gabriela Barbas, insisted that with the portfolio she leads “the dialogue is always open to finding a common point” and that actions were taken based on what was discussed.

These procedures are comprehensive. It covers salaries and there is a short, medium and long term action plan that addresses various aspects of rebuilding public health,” Barbas specified.

Regarding the increases provided, he emphasized that there is no salary less than the basic basket and that 100% of the items are remunerative. This is one of the points discussed by the health teams.

The minister said that the increase is a qualitative leap that “covers 100 percent of the health team and extends to Law 7233 employees who work in our hospitals” and that next Monday at 2:30 pm there will be a meeting to review the new structure.

Finally, he stressed that patients and the general public are “the center of attention” and that dialogue must progress until controls are normalized and surgeries scheduled.
