Gomez will defend 'at all costs' at CISNS 'defending health through smoke-free spaces', but demands economic report – Spain

The Minister of Health, Marciano Gómez, will tomorrow “at all costs” in the Interregional Council of the National Health System (CISNS) defend “the health of the people of Valencia by defending smoke-free places”, but he called on the Ministry to accompany the tobacco control plan with a justified economic report.

Gómez indicated this when asked by the media about the position that the Valencian Community will defend at tomorrow's CISNS meeting, at which the Comprehensive Plan for Tobacco Prevention and Control (PIT) 2024-2027 will be taken up. Communities have until noon on Thursday to decide whether or not to join after reviewing the proposed changes and claims made by various autonomous regions.

In this regard, Gomez stressed that the position of the Valencian Community is “clear”: “Defending health, we will defend smoke-free places.” “Our position is to defend at all costs tomorrow in the Regional Council, and I personally, the position of defending the health of the people of Valencia,” he stressed. But he demanded “a justified economic report, which the ministry did not provide,” expressing his regret.
