About a hundred Guinean political formations created a platform to unify their positions and submit proposals to the military council that was formed after the September coup with the aim of returning to the constitutional order in the African country.

The newly created Caucus of Political Parties (CPP) held its first meeting on Monday at the opposition Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea headquarters in Guinea’s capital, Conakry, at which it was agreed to establish a coordination committee. It consists of fourteen people.

The committee will meet for the first time on Thursday to launch a series of committees to determine the coalition’s position on the constitution, electoral legislation, the electoral commission, the timing of the transition and the duration of the transition. The Guinean News Portal compiled the Guinea News.

“These committees will work very quickly and define a consensual position for all parties,” said UFD leader Selo Daleen Diallo, the main contender in the recent elections for ousted president, Alpha Conde.

Diallo, who did not admit his defeat and asserted that he achieved victory in the elections, praised the coup led by Mamady Domboya, as long as the army is committed to handing over power to civilians and returning to constitutional order.

He stressed the opponent who indicated that all the formations are committed to a “real democracy” in Guinea and a rightful state that respects the laws and the freedoms of citizens.

Similarly, the UGD leader revealed that the parties want to propose an electoral calendar acceptable to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to agree to withdraw the sanctions imposed on the country after the coup that ousted Conde.

For his part, the head of the FAN party, Makali Camara, asked the National Commission for Reconciliation and Development (CNRD) – the official name of the council – to “talk” to the political parties. He regretted that “the National Council for Democracy and Development (CNRD) does not talk to the parties.”

“What we want is to set up a framework in which the council’s dialogue with political parties takes place and takes into account our contributions so that we can also participate in this transition,” Camara explained in statements made to Radio France International.

The announcement of the establishment of the CPP came on the day Moriba Alan Kony took over as Minister of Justice and Human Rights after the dismissal of Fatoumata Yari Soma, amid disagreements regarding his duties with the Domboya presidency.

The Economic Community of West African States decided in September to maintain Guinea’s suspension of all organs of the organization until constitutional order was restored, and requested that legislative presidential elections be held “within six months”. In this sense, it has decided that members of the National Council for Democracy and Development are barred from running in the presidential elections.
