On Friday, the Ministry of Public Health reported two deaths from COVID-19 and 102 positive cases. Meanwhile, 110 people were taken to hospital. 48 of them are in intensive care. The report notes that among the critically ill patients, 29 were not vaccinated against the new coronavirus, 15 got the full dose, and 4 got the incomplete dose.
The health file report also details that the deceased, both males, corresponded to the age group of 20 to 39 years and 60 years and over, and were not vaccinated. The victims are from the provinces of Alto Parana and Itapua.
The total number of confirmed cases in the country since March 2020, 465,130, and the cumulative number of deaths was 16,598, while 76 people were notified who managed to beat the disease, for a total of 447,476.

At its usual weekly press conference, the Health Ministry reported yesterday that the omicron variant could have already entered the country, possibly through students who tested positive for COVID-19 in Cancun, Mexico, although it is still subject to confirmation according to lab results.
The Acting Director of Health Surveillance, Sandra Irala, indicated that the number of people infected with the virus increased significantly last week (50) compared to the previous week. “We have 593 cases in the last week and in the previous 407, that is, they increased by 46%,” he said.
Likewise, he mentioned the central province, Alto Paraná, Caguazu and Guaira, as well as the Cordillera, Canindio, San Pedro and Ambay, while in Asuncion, injuries remain stable. There is an increase in cases at the country level.
