The
Worldwide Developers ConferenceApple’s annual developer event is just around the corner. Along with announcements for specific devices, the broadcast will host all the news inherent in the Apple Bitten operating systems.

One of them is iOS, whose 16th release promises some of the most significant changes seen on the iPhone. Mark Gorman, a principal analyst with respect to the California multinational, made the following additions:

lock screen: iPhone lock screen will undergo a complete transformation process to house more information. It is said, as the commentary, that its wallpaper will support “widgets”, confirming rumors of an always-on display on the iPhone 14 Pro (a function that has been in many Android smartphones for several years). Thus, we can check the time or our calendar events without having to unlock the phone or, of course, touch the screen.

multitasking: Multitasking will improve in iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, making it easier to work with Windows (from now on resizable) on Apple’s electronic tablet. In this regard, the company has registered a patent that iPadOS will resemble macOS after connecting the keyboard.

MessagesiMessage, Apple’s instant messaging app, will support the functionality of some social networks. Gorman says more specifically about voice messages.

healthThe Health app will receive “many new features” that will improve the integration between iPhone and Apple Watch. It’s unlikely you’ll get to macOS or iPadOS.

Unpublished appsGurman is very vague with this prediction, asserting that iOS 16 will introduce apps that will “change the way we interact with the iPhone.”

Privacy: iCloud Private Relay, the functionality that encrypts traffic from Safari and Mail to iCloud + subscribers, will be extended to all users and any app on the phone. Thus, Apple will reaffirm its commitment to security and privacy with iPhone.

widgets: App shortcuts will arrive in version 2.0 with iOS 16. If we can now go back to weather information without opening the app of the same name, we will soon be able to interact with said data without leaving the home screen. The same will happen with Control Center tools like flashlight or music player, to give two examples.

classic apple: An app dedicated exclusively to classical music that can complement the Apple Music app, information in which several sources match (as much as we don’t find meaning).

Concentration: Focus modes on iPhone allow us to focus on the task at hand instead of being distracted by the phone. However, many users think they are not very intuitive, something that could change with iOS 16.

Notices: There is no iteration of iOS that does not modify its notifications in any way. iOS 16 will be no exception, although no specific details other than a “deep update” of the system have emerged.

When will iOS 16 arrive and which phones will be compatible?

iOS 16 will be presented on June 6 (when the beta is also released to the development community). It won’t even be a version
iPhone 14already in September, when the operating system will be released to all users.

In terms of iOS 16 compatible iPhones, the first leaked tentative list ensures that all models are from the iPhone 7. This leaves the iPhone 6s with seven years of support behind.
