In his new album after his death… Mexico and the Standards in My Heart (Cities), the famous Mexican singer and songwriter Juan Gabriel performs at his favorite venues in his native country and for the people who have given his concerts. It is a collection of 24 original and unreleased songs that will be released on October 5, record label Virgin Music said on Monday (September 25) in a statement.
The full tracklist and album cover art were revealed on Monday (September 25) for the first time by the record label. In the cover photo, Juan Gabriel is shown walking on an airstrip at dusk in front of an imposing aircraft, wearing a pink pilot’s suit and dark glasses. It is the second posthumous album by Divo de Juarez who died on August 28, 2016. The first was Duo 3released in November 2022.
Moreover, the new work of the emblematic artist, as happened with his famous duet albums, features the participation of his friends and colleagues such as the Mexican group Los Tucanes de Tijuana, the Colombian trio Zona Prieta and the group The JuanRas, originally from Cancun, where the idol resided in his last years. “It started as a project for Juan Gabriel to sing to people, as he gave his concerts, a song about that city,” the statement said.
According to Virgin Music, the Mexican music star initially recorded 11 songs, but then decided to make an album. He then recorded 11 more songs for a total of 22 songs, to which he added an extended version of the first single “Méxxico es todo” and a version of “La mere mera” featuring Los Tucanes de Tijuana.
His record label also mentioned it as part of a release Mexico and the Standards in My Heart (Cities)The artist’s family cooperated with a Mexican airline so that one of its planes was decorated with Juan Gabriel’s face on the tail of the plane, and it began flying on September 14. The plane will fly throughout the year through different Mexican cities that Juan Gabriel loved so much.
