Launching an acceleration call for startups in the health sector

The Mexican Hospital Federation (CMH), powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), presents the Call: Entrepreneurship Accelerator for a Healthy Ecosystem (AEES). With the aim of promoting the development of solutions for the health sector in Mexico, by promoting the growth of startups that have innovative initiatives.

The project seeks to accelerate 10 projects with potential for growth and expansion. Said projects must ensure a social impact in the health sector, in areas such as the development of operational solutions for hospitals and laboratories. In addition to clinical solutions focused on research or continuing education for clinicians; Or in innovations related to the patient experience, to improve communication between the latter and health service providers.

CMH said in a statement that the projects will enjoy an acceleration process of around 6 months.

He stressed that the selected projects will have the opportunity to present their business models to investment funds and potential clients. “At CMH we have the sensitivity to identify the needs of this sector,” said David Potes, CMH Group Director of Innovation and Digital Solutions. This helps to select projects or startups with interesting technology to adapt to the Mexican health system, especially hospital field.

How and why do you participate in the call?

CMH represents 52 of the nearly 3,000 hospitals across the country, mainly small and medium hospitals.

Butts explained that these types of hospitals are open and flexible enough to test new tools or initiatives such as those that participants can offer.

As part of the process at AEES, participating entrepreneurs will have access to a unique training package designed specifically by CMH.

This is supported by AWS and Astelaris, a legal and financial advisory firm for entrepreneurs whose mission is to accompany them through all stages of their growth.

In this way, working within Accelerator includes 3 areas of business development:

  1. Understanding the market, so that the solutions offered by entrepreneurs are adapted to the needs of hospitals.
  2. Technical consulting, where AWS will provide the tools and software to make project development more efficient.
  3. Legal and financial advice. Responsible for Astelaris, a law firm from which entrepreneurs will obtain business advice to achieve the optimal legal and tax structure.

He indicated that the training and guidance phase will take place during the period from January to March 2023, and the topics included are:

  • Within the Mexican health system.
  • Innovation to promote change in the health sector.
  • Legal strategies and capital increase.
  • Business model standardization.

The deadline to participate in AEES is December 2, 2022
