Mexican Agustín Murillo made history by scoring 5 hits

The Mexican third baseman says goodbye to his ninth Caribbean Series, becoming the only player aged 40 or older to record 5 hits in a single game, in 66 editions played since 1949.

Ken Griffey Sr. joined the list as the youngest to do so on February 3, 1975 at the age of 24 years and 299 days, with Bayamón of Puerto Rico's 6-4 win over Aguilas Cibainas of the Dominican Republic.

Another American playing for Mexican team Los Mochis, he was fourth on February 8, 1984 at the age of 31 years and 014 days, in a 10-7 win over Dominican Tigres de Lisi.

The fifth to give up five hits in a game and the first in an extra inning was Randy Reddy on February 4, 1986, pitching for Mayagüez, in a 10-7 loss to Águilas Cibainas in 12 innings. He was 26 years and 027 days old.

Puerto Rican Roberto Alomar joined the roster on February 6, 1986, one day after his 27th birthday, in a 16-0 win in nine innings by San Juan over ninth-ranking Dominican team Azucarios del Este.

Five years later, another Puerto Rican, José Vidro, became the second to do so in extra innings on February 7, 2000, in Santurce's 13-10 win over Aguilas Cibainas when he was 25 years and 164 days old.

It took 18 years for another player to do it in nine rounds, when Venezuelan Balbino Fuenmayor did it on February 3, 2018 with Anzoategui in a 15-4 win over Águilas Cibainas. Fuenmayor is the only one to do so, hitting 2 home runs among his 5 hits at 28 years, 069 days.

Murillo was added to the roster for his ninth Caribbean Series of his career. He hit four singles and a double, drove in one run and scored another. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the first, third, seventh and ninth.
