Minister at the World Health Assembly: “In Venezuela there is a will to create a strong health system” – PAHO/WHO

CARACAS, May 24, 2023 (PAHO/WHO). – The Minister of People’s Power for Health of Venezuela, Magali Gutierrez, made it clear during her speech at the World Health Assembly that the space is appropriate to unite efforts to achieve the real transformation of health systems and to obtain a healthy world as a result.

He emphasized that Venezuela has the will to create a strong health system that overcomes the ordeals that were imposed on the country with more than 930 unilateral coercive measures, and cited Article 1 of the United Nations Charter, which calls for an international investigation. Cooperation in solving problems of all kinds without discrimination of any kind.

The minister expressed that Venezuela has not deviated from goals and plans such as the Sustainable Development Goals: “Every surgical intervention, every treatment, every transplant, every timely diagnosis, every sanitation center we reactivate and rehabilitate, every life saved, every doctor we graduated and who Restoring health to a Venezuelan brother and our people, is part of the struggle to defeat this blockade.”

He affirmed that Venezuela is faithful to the international agreements it has signed, as this is part of the “Bolivarian peace diplomacy”, and called for restoring the original spirit of the United Nations and its founding charter, as he considers it urgent. Creating a new political and financial reality that gives a just and immediate response to the important challenges facing humanity: “You have in Venezuela a respectable country willing to contribute to building a new reality with regard to health.”
