More than 11,000 people evacuated and 2,000 homes damaged in the earthquake in China

The area is on alert, officials from that town, located in Yunnan Province, said the worst damage was concentrated in Wayao, Shuizhai and Banqiao districts, and 10 were injured.

About 2,400 specialists are inspecting the affected areas as part of the search and rescue operations.

The municipal government has distributed hundreds of tents, folding beds and other emergency items to the victims, while it is assessing the level of damage to housing infrastructure and identifying potential geological disasters.

Similarly, several brigades mobilized to repair the electricity, water and communications networks as quickly as possible, as well as the road breakdowns caused by the earthquake that occurred around midnight.

Pictures published in the newspapers show that the roads are blocked by a large amount of stones and soil, which was loosened by the impact of the phenomenon.

Apart from the earthquake in Yunnan, neighboring Sichuan Province on Wednesday recorded a 4.5-magnitude earthquake in mountainous Shengwen County, but it has not yet been revealed whether it caused casualties or material damage.
