N. Zelanda mantendrĂ¡ sus fronteras cerradas a extranjeros hasta abril de 2022

N. Zeland will close its borders to foreigners until April 2022 | The world

New Zealand authorities announced on Wednesday that they would not open their borders to foreign travelers until April 2022, although vaccinated citizens and residents will be able to enter the country from January and February, depending on where they arrive.

In a statement, the New Zealand government indicated that it would lift restrictions on New Zealanders flying from New Zealand on January 16 and from Australia and other parts of the world from February 13.

The rest of the vaccinated foreign travelers will be able to go to sea country without any restrictions until April 10th.

Currently, entry into New Zealand, which closed its borders in March 2020 due to the epidemic, is being carried out through a rigorous process in which spaces are drawn, which restricts the entry of small groups to be isolated.

The new system will allow vaccinated passengers to enter, they will have to present a negative test before departure, will be subjected to another test upon arrival and will be isolated for seven days at the place of their choice.

Before the isolation can be completed, they must be subjected to another Covit-19 test.

“Closing our border is one of the first steps we have taken to keep our country safe from Govt-19, and the last thing we want to do is open it,” said Chris Hipkins, the Govt-19 response minister.

“We released this announcement today to prepare families, businesses, visitors, airlines and airport companies. As a nation we are encouraged to move towards greater default,” Hipkins added.

Last Monday, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacintha Arden announced in December that the country would adhere to a new set of flexible regulations that would include closing the perimeter of businesses if there is a large increase in infections, but without restrictions.

New Zealand was also one of the countries most active against Covit-19, and was able to maintain a low number of infections (approximately 10,390) and deaths (40).

However, in October it dropped the zero-case strategy in the face of increased vaccination, with nearly 70 percent of people vaccinated against COVID-19 expected to reach 90 percent in the coming weeks.
