Los Angeles, June 22 (EFE). – Netflix will produce a documentary about the legendary Juan Gabriel in Mexico and the United States after reaching an agreement with Ivan Aguilera, one of his sons and property manager of the Mexican singer-songwriter.

Deadline reported Thursday that Aguilera said he was excited to collaborate with the platform.

“Bringing my dad’s true story to screen has been a project we’ve wanted to launch for some time. We are confident that with this team we’ve built, we can work closely together to bring his true story to life.”

The documentary about El Divo de Juárez is directed by María Jose Cuevas, known in 2016 for her work on “Bellezas de la noche,” according to Deadline.

Meanwhile, Laura Woldenberg and Yvonne Gutierrez, producers of the Netflix documentary The Three Deaths of Maricela Escobedo, will be responsible for producing the film.

In 2020, Aguilera announced that, with the support of a team specializing in celebrity legacy management, he would launch several projects to “honor” the Mexican artist, including a documentary, film, and other events that “celebrate his legacy.”

The Mexican artist passed away at the age of 66 in Los Angeles (USA) on August 28, 2016, when he was taking a break from his “MeXXico es Todo” tour.

During his 45-year career, Juan Gabriel has produced over 1,800 songs, 32 studio albums, and three live albums (all at the Bellas Artes Theater in Mexico City).

He has also sold over 100 million records and had the best selling album of all time in Mexico. In the same way, he collaborated with 800 different artists in 7 different languages. EFE
