The United States entered the game with the aim of recovering from defeat to Sweden in the opening game, ending a 44-game unbeaten series.

Lavelle got America a perfect start nine minutes after receiving a direct pass from Tobin Heath and scoring quietly.

Horan thought he doubled the lead in the 35th minute, but his shot was blocked by VAR on the off side.

Shortly before the break, Horan hit a header from close range with the help of Megan Robinho.

AB Erzek headed in his own goal with a touch of Carly Lloyd when the United States finished third after 63 minutes.

Nine minutes later, New Zealand used a poor defense to score through Hassett.

However, the United States responded with late victories from the Press and Morgan, as well as an own goal from CJ Pat that ensured a comfortable victory.
