Odebo selects Guayaquil as the venue for the Bolivarian Games XX 2025

Odebo selects Guayaquil as the venue for the Bolivarian Games XX 2025

The Bolivarian Sports Organization (Odibo) announced on Saturday, after a regular meeting of its General Assembly, that it has designated the Ecuadorean city of Guayaquil to organize the XX Bolivarian Games in 2025.

The Colombian Baltazar Medina, President of Odepo, confirmed the designation of the Ecuadorean city of Buenos Aires as the venue for the Bolivarian Games 2025, after the conclusion of the general assembly meeting of the organization, which was held in Guayaquil itself.

On this occasion, Ecuador was chosen for the fourth time to organize the Bolivarian Games, which it has already hosted in 1965, 1985 and 2001.

Bolivarian Games Valledupar 2022

Odibo, which organizes its games every four years, will celebrate the 19th Bolivarian Games in the Colombian city of Valledupar, between June 25 and July 5, 2022, although this year the competition would have taken place.

The 2022 Valdobar Games were originally supposed to be held in 2021 in the Valles del Tuy region of Venezuela, but eventually did not take place due to financial and organizational problems.

With the full scheme in place, the Bolivarian Organization decided that the XX Bolivarian Games would be held according to the usual calendar and thus set it to be in the year 2025 in Guayaquil.

Mdina highlighted the experience that Ecuador has to organize major sporting events in, thanks to the good sporting infrastructure it has, especially in cities like coastal Guayaquil.

The Odepo chief added that the next step would be the formation of an “organizing committee” for that competition, which would include representatives from the Ecuadorean Ministry of Sports, the Ecuadorean Olympic Committee and the Guayas Sports Federation (Fedeguayas).

Medina highlighted the commitment expressed by the Ecuadorean government, through the Ministry of Sports, to provide the necessary resources to organize the 2025 Games.

After the conclusion of the Ordinary General Assembly of Odibo and the appointment of Guayaquil as organizer, “we leave very calm and satisfied and very confident that we will have some excellent games” in this coastal city in southeastern Ecuador, Medina noted.

The dream is complete

For his part, the Ecuadorean Sports Minister, Sebastian Palacios, confirmed that Guayaquil’s nomination was achieved thanks to a “unanimous vote” at the Odibo Ordinary General Assembly.

This – said the minister – “a dream come true,” because “there is a whole generation of athletes who consider these Bolivarian Games their sporting goal.”

Palacios, who did not hesitate to stress that this appointment would allow Ecuador to establish itself as a powerhouse in sports, said that organizing this competition would imply “more sports infrastructure and more children” related to the sport.

Bolivarian Games for everyone in Ayacucho 2024

The Peruvian city of Ayacucho was also designated by the Oedipo Society as the venue for the Odibo “Memorial Games” and as a celebration of the bicentenary of the Battle of Independence (December 9, 1824) in that Peruvian region.

Odebo specified that the “Bolivarian Games for All Ayacucho 2024” would be the first with sports not included in the Olympic program. EFE
