Politicians are smarter than the average citizen (at least in Sweden)

Sweden makes everyone take an IQ test as part of their mandatory military service, and if you ask the military well, they will give you people’s results. A team of researchers took IQ tests of all Swedish politicians, resulting in the following table:

Not as high as the ivy league

Not only is the IQ of politicians higher than the general population, but the more you advance in politics (from candidate, to city council, to mayor, to MP), the higher your IQ!

The MPs average 6.7 on this test, which I believe equates to an IQ of 115, not as high as those in the Ivy League, but still well above average. So the same intellectual abilities that made Henry a great mathematician could have helped Raymond become prime minister.

Despite everything, many intellectuals, thinkers, opinion scientists and politicians are functionally illiterate. This statement is very shocking, but it seems so to us because we continue to consider knowledge in the field of letters, history, literature, economics … more important than knowledge in physics, chemistry or mathematics.
