If they do not feel comfortable with individual therapy sessions, they can go to support groups.
“There are online resources for specific background groups where you can have peer group therapy, so it doesn’t feel like you’re in this one-on-one therapy session,” says Dr. Joseph. There are many free virtual support groups that people with depression can attend. Dr. Joseph believes that support groups help depressed professionals.
“You help each other because you share your story about what works for you, and then someone else shares their story and ensures what works for them,” he says.
Mara Sosa, a psychologist originally from Venezuela and currently residing in Miami, It is believed that getting outdoors is crucial for people suffering from depression. “Connecting with nature has been shown over and over again to help reduce symptoms of depression,” he says.
According to a study published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, spending time outdoors helps people with depression. “Nature is very important for overcoming depression,” Sosa says. “Whether it’s being outdoors in nature or being exposed to the sun, there’s something about connecting with nature that’s been shown to help reduce symptoms of depression,” he says.

Psychologists say that socializing can have a significant impact on professionals suffering from executive depression.
“The more we can connect with other individuals and loved ones, the more we realize we are not alone,” Sosa says. “Conversations are truly powerful.”
