PORT-AU-PRINCE, SEPTEMBER 13 (RHC) Three police officers were killed and several more injured on Tuesday in La Baule 12, an affluent area of ​​the Haitian capital, by the Ti Makak gang operating in the area, it was alleged.

Officers of the Anti-Gangster Technical Unit were ambushed in the neighborhood and killed during clashes with armed group members.

Pictures of the clients’ corpses spread on social media, and media outlets reported that the gang had seized at least one corpses and several weapons.

That same group was responsible for the murders of two journalists in early January and former Senator Yvonne Boisseret, whose body was later cremated.

The officers’ killing comes in the middle of a tense day of demonstrations against rising fuel prices, after Prime Minister Ariel Henry confirmed the increase as a measure to combat shortages.

Also when the police announced measures to curb the expansion of armed groups that increased their control, especially in the last year in Port-au-Prince and the surrounding areas.
