HAVANA OCTOBER 24 (RHC) Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu (pictured) denounced in Moscow that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has brought its forces closer to his country’s borders, in response stressing that security in Europe can only be shared.

Shoigu emphasized that “German Defense Minister (Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer) should know very well how something similar ended up for Germany and Europe,” referring to the Soviet victory over fascism during World War II (1939-1945).

The title indicated that the implementation of NATO’s deterrence plans in Afghanistan “ended with a catastrophe that the whole world is facing now.”

Shoigu responded to his German counterpart, who last Thursday suggested that NATO show Russia that it can use military means as a deterrent maneuver.

In this way, Kramp-Karrenbauer said, no one would plan attacks against the Baltic states or NATO partners in the Black Sea.

Last Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the closure of its representation to NATO, as well as the NATO liaison and information offices in Moscow, in response to the recent expulsion of eight Russian diplomats. (Source: TeleSur)
