Roman Rodriguez pledged funding for the new health center in Santa Cruz de la Palma

The Vice President and Minister of Finance, Budgets and European Affairs, Roman Rodriguez, said this Saturday that funds will not be a problem for the construction of the new health center in the capital of La Palma, because once there is a plot of land and the project has been drafted, he will be responsible for looking for financing and determining budget adjustments.

Roman Rodriguez, accompanied by the Mayor of Santa Cruz de la Palma, Juan José Neres, and the Director of Health Services of the La Palma Health District, Mercedes Coelho, visited the current health center on Saturday and, as indicated in the statement, checked how the facilities were no longer able to respond to the needs of residents of the capital and the region.

The vice president said, “In this health center, a good health service has historically been provided, but times are changing, it needs to be changed, and the facilities are getting old,” noting that there must be land available to face the technical and administrative procedures that follow the stages of project implementation, “referred to to it in the statement.

Roman Rodríguez reiterated that the Cabildo and the City Council make the land available and, once the transfer is formally completed, will be able to commission the project first and budget for the work, after that.

In this regard, he insisted that without land there can be no project or budget without it.

“Now, I will take care of finding the funds in the budgets of the Canary Islands to carry out the work once these previous steps have been taken,” he emphasized, adding that according to his calculations, there would be about four or five million euros. necessary to carry out the work.
