Milwaukee – Rowdy Tellez hit a pair of visitors and a franchise record with eight RBIs as the Milwaukee Brewers blasted the Cincinnati Reds 18-4 on Wednesday.
Tellez broke the tie 2-2 and put the Brewers in front for good with a 453-footed Grand Slam over Vladimir Gutierrez (0-5) in the third inning.
In the sixth, he hit a two-stage shot from the Morita League. The ball traveled 431 feet. Telles capped his big night with a two-round double that crashed into the right field wall in the eighth inning off Matt Reynolds, a cramie improv player, when Cincinnati had already given up.
Tellez has racked up four home runs in his last four games, taking his total to seven this season.
Kolten Wong also voiced for Milwaukee. Andrew McCutchen went 4 for 5, scored two goals and led in four runs.
Christian Yelich went 2-4 with three runs and scored two RBIs.
The Reds lost eight in a row and 19 of 20. They have also lost in the last 12 visits.
It’s the first time since 1945 that Cincinnati has cycled 12 home runs in the same season.
The victory went to Dominican player Freddy Peralta (1-1), who recovered from a turbulent start. Three in five rounds were allowed, with seven hits and two runs of walks.
For the Reds, Mexican Alejo Lopez scored 4-1 in one game
For the Brewers, Dominican Willie Adams scored 3-0 with two rounds. Mexican Luis Orías scored 3-2 in two rounds. Puerto Rican Victor Caratini 4-1 with one inning and two RBIs scored.
