Salud de Oaxaca implements measures to care for immigrants in 5 municipalities

Juchitan, Oaxaca. During the meeting, which was held at the facilities of San Pedro Tabanatipec Community Hospital, it was reported that SSO brigades are working specifically to enhance epidemiological surveillance, timely detection of outbreaks and emerging disease cases, and to maintain control of current outbreaks.

They noted that these measures are aimed at boosting medical care and supplies in the Chahuites, Zanatepec, Niltepec and Santo Domingo Ingenio units as well as Tapanatepec and Juchitán, which are in the path of the immigrant population. At these points, they will seek to detect and report, as appropriate, any epidemiological event.

To achieve these goals, the tasks of epidemiological surveillance, vector control, health promotion, medical care, health regulation, intersectoral and inter-institutional coordination, the idea being that from the emergence of any epidemiological risk event, will be maintained in a coordinated and effective manner.

The said plan, which began to be implemented last October, mainly focuses on the immigrant population of San Pedro Tabantepeque, who at the end of this week numbered more than 15,000 foreigners from different countries, and on the local residents of the municipality of Tabantepec, on all suspected case malaria that could have been generated there.
