Tellier says Chile faces the challenge of creating a new constitution

In a message marking the 111th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Tellier said that the political organization should accompany its representatives in the Expert Committee, the Technical Committee on Admission, and in the Constitutional Council to advance the process.

He said that they and they should do everything in their power to put in place a basic law of democracy that benefits the vast majority.

On June 7, the 51-member council tasked with approving the draft charter will be inaugurated, which will be put to a referendum on December 17.

Ironically, the party most represented in that body is the far-right Republican Party, which opposed amending the text in force since 1980.

Tellier declared, “We know the outlook is difficult, but we must never give up or give up on this goal that we have pursued for so many years.”

The supreme leader of the Chinese Communist Party has condemned the Republican Party’s denial of human rights abuses committed during the 17 years of Pinochet’s dictatorship.

Last week, the elected member with the most votes for the far-right organisation, Luis Silva, admitted he felt “admiration” for Pinochet, whom he considered a “statesman”, and said the memory of his government should not be reduced to crimes against humanity.

In response to these statements, Tellier stated that no statesman kills and oppresses people with blood and fire like Pinochet did.

The PCCh Chair, who was unable to attend the organization’s anniversary event this Sunday because he was recovering from an operation, thanked all the expressions of affection received in recent days.

Tellier saluted the leaders of the political parties present at the ceremony, diplomatic representations and government authorities.

He also used the opportunity to send greetings to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, General Raul Castro, on his 92nd birthday, and to the Communist Parties in Latin America, Europe and Asia.
