The classic version of Angry Birds is disappearing from Google Play

Rovio Entertainment has announced that it has removed Rovio Classics: Angry Birds from the official Google Play app store, due to the game’s “impact” on its wallet.

The company released a statement saying that it had studied the status of this video game and that, in the case of the App Store, it had decided to keep this title under another name, as it would be renamed Red’s First Flight. . This version, on the other hand, is pending review.

The developer, who also integrates other versions of the video game into Google’s online store, such as Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds Friends, and Angry Birds Journey, has commented that it will remove Rovio Classics: Angry Birds from this platform.

Although this application, which can now be downloaded for € 1.19, has been deleted, it will continue to run on devices where it was previously downloaded “even after it has been removed from the list”.

Rovio’s senior director of brand and community development, known on Twitter as Buck, specified that the company took this action because the title “negatively affects” its other games and that “if those other games don’t improve and grow, the perspective is the entire company.”

It should be remembered that Rovio Classics: Angry Birds was not the original game released in 2009 for iOS and Maemo that hit the rest of the app stores in 2012. It disappeared from the download and purchase platforms in 2019 due to compatibility issues.

It was at the beginning of April last year when Rovio announced the return of the title with its new name, a version that kept all aspects of the original video game and worked in the same way, with the same goals and with additional content.
