CM&News reported Thursday that Ivan Marquez, who was FARC’s chief negotiator in the talks leading to the signing of the peace agreement in November 2016, has died as a result of serious injuries sustained in an attack on his person in July last year in Venezuela.

In this sense, the minister indicated that the Colombian security forces are working on verification and asked for caution until “the verification is done so that we can speak properly”.

Last September, the Colombian government confirmed that Marquez was alive, but “ill, convalescing.”

The last information the authorities have on him, according to the head of the defense portfolio, is that “at some point he was on national soil” after the attack he suffered in July and “was in good health.”
