The cooperation between the Belt and Road is commendable in Cuba-Escambray

The initiative has achieved results of cooperation in all regions, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean, and great dynamism has been seen with the participation of 21 countries and projects.

Eduardo Regalado, an expert at the International Policy Research Center in Cuba, confirmed on Thursday that the sector and the Silk Road have become the largest cooperation initiative in human history.

At the international symposium held in Havana to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the project, Regalado noted that the initiative has boosted nearly $1 billion in investments and created 420,000 jobs.

He stressed that the Belt and Road has cooperation results in all regions, “especially in Latin America and the Caribbean, there has been great dynamism with the participation of 21 countries and projects.”

He added that for Cuba, “a developing country that is under a harsh blockade by the United States, it is of paramount importance to deepen relations with the initiative.” The specialist commented that in the Mariel Special District and in the Cerro Redondo biomass plant, the fruits of cooperation aimed at helping achieve energy security and sustainable development can already be appreciated.

On the other hand, the Egyptian ambassador to Havana, Maher Al-Adawy, explained that within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, China has undertaken many symbolic projects with his country, which aim to improve infrastructure, trade and economic cooperation.

Likewise, the Chancellor of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Serik Zanibekov, stated that the Asian giant is one of the main trading partners and investors in his country, and thanks to the project, measures have been developed to improve the quality of life of people and infrastructures.

He stressed that the two countries are working to expand cooperation in areas such as rail and sea transport across the Caspian Sea.

On the other hand, the Pakistani Ambassador, Shahbaz Malik, stated that the Joint Cooperation Committee of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor represents the cornerstone of the relationship with the Asian giant, and thanks to its development, cooperation relations will expand in various fields. Such as health, agriculture, industry and education.

He pointed out that under an official bilateral agreement signed in 2017, the long-term plan for the implementation of this corridor is expected to cover the implementation of projects until 2030.

He said that Pakistan and China enjoy a proven, unique and consistent relationship. “It is an iron brotherhood based on mutual trust and credibility.”

The Ambassadors of Indonesia, Nana Yuliana and Sri Lanka, Lakshita Pradeep Ratnayake, spoke in a similar vein, highlighting the impact of the initiative in their countries, particularly in areas such as rail transport and electricity generation.
