The kick-off of the International Forum Columbia Women in the Caribbean

BOGOTA, SEPTEMBER 15 (PRENSA LATINA) The International Meeting of the Colombian Woman in the Caribbean, which will be held in the city of Santa Marta, will begin today with the theme of the liberation struggles in the world.

Cuba, Canada, Palestine, the United States, Ecuador, Argentina and Spain will be the countries invited to this meeting of fighters for the rights of peoples.

Teri Mattson, CodePink’s Latin America coordinator in North America, who has been detained on immigration detention and denied entry to the country by the government of Ivan Duque (2018-2022), will attend when she arrives in Bogota to serve as an international election observer in the first presidential round.

In this “Junanza Caribe de Colombia es Mujer” a campaign will be launched to remove Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism drawn up by the United States government and which is rejected by the Antilles and many countries. They are sponsoring this new campaign for the benefit of the Cuban people, religious people, organizations like CodePink, and politicians, among others.

In 2015, former President Barack Obama removed Cuba from the list it had been on since 1982, and where it was never meant to be, former President Donald Trump reversed a decision on January 12, 2021.

Then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo justified the questioning and condemnation, due to Cuba’s refusal to extradite members of the National Liberation Army (ELN) who were advancing the peace process in Havana.

The government of former President Duque demanded the extradition of the leaders of the National Liberation Army after an attack on a police academy.

This demand was made by the Colombian government at the time despite its knowledge of the existence of protocols designed and agreed upon by the parties with strict attention to the provisions of international law for the resolution of internal armed conflicts, including the protocol for the case of the broken talks.
