The Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55 celebrates a milestone achievement in AMG

Mercedes-AMG celebrates, and to celebrate it has just introduced this special edition of the legendary Geländewagen that will be known as the Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55. What’s the cause? Nothing short of AMG’s 55th anniversary.

The company was initially known as AMG Motor Production and Development It was founded in 1967 by former Mercedes-Benz engineers Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in Burgstal, as a process of developing racing engines for Mercedes-Benz cars. In 1976, AMG moved its operations to its current headquarters, Affalterbach.

In 2005 Mercedes-Benz, which it had already controlled since 1999, acquired all shares in AMG, which currently serves as the manufacturer’s highly advanced automotive division, with responsibilities for the design, manufacturing and marketing of vehicles sold under the Mercedes-AMG brand. Whichever color is chosen, the powerful SUV will display a decal on the bottom of its doors with a simplified version of the AMG Medallion and will be equipped with the AMG Night and AMG Night II packages that add dark details to the bodywork and interior. From the car, among them is a beautiful chrome-plated fuel filler cap and displays the AMG logo. All 55 Mercedes-AMG G63 versions use 22-inch forged wheels with a crossover design and a matte gray finish.

In its cabin, the Edition 55 showcases a combination of black and red, which has been used a lot over the years in Mercdes’ most powerful cars, and is evident in its Nappa leather-trimmed seats. The Mercedes Dinamica microfibre-wrapped steering wheel features the ’55 AMG’ badge on its lower center bars. The black velor floor mats with red contrast stitching display the AMG logo, as do the red illuminated stainless steel running boards. Buyers of the 55th Edition also get a dedicated cover to protect the vehicle inside the garage.
