The Minister of Public Health, Ximena Garzón, will participate in the meeting of the Board of Directors of the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), in Stockholm (Sweden). The event, which will take place from Thursday, May 19 to Saturday, May 21, 2022, and will include the participation of international health experts, is important for the region, because in the past 10 years it has not had a representative from the Americas and this time, Ecuador stands out.

The involvement of the state is also an important national milestone because it is the first time that you have been part of a management position, through Minister Garzon.

The Chair of the Branch, distinguished by her leadership, technical and academic profile, will be at the event where there will be a series of meetings of the highest level within the Karolinka Institute, a world reference research center and one of the 10 best medical universities in Europe. It’s the first meeting of 2022.

Minister Garzon will support the analysis of the following topics with her knowledge: health policy; programs and budgets; Strategies, policies and programs to improve health conditions, global vaccination policies for the population, and others.

Council members will formally represent their governments until the establishment of the World Council, in the third quarter of 2023. Garzon’s appointment responds to the successful 9/100 Vaccination Plan and Epidemic Control, for which the country has been recognized as a world reference in vaccinations.
