The authorities expect that the discharge period, which could be accompanied by explosions and more intense emissions of ash, will extend for several days.

The authorities said that the emission of gases of volcanic origin continues, and seismic records show an increase in activity related to the passage of gases from within the volcano.

The San Miguel Colossus is the most active in the country and is classified as an open system, so it can continue to offer periods of increased gas activity and sporadic eruptions without prior notice.

The Marne is constantly monitored and called upon, in particular the residents of the municipalities of San Jorge, Chinameca and San Rafael Oriente and sectors close to the volcano, to be alert to activity and ready to evacuate if necessary.
